Redwood Forest

Friday, Aug 24

Today we drove from Willits to Eureka, spending the whole day enjoying the Redwood Forest. The pics we took were great, but they cannot convey the beauty of the magnificant trees!

This tree has a circumference of FORTY FEET!

We ate a nice picnic lunch at a visitor center. Chari was reading and reading and reading about all the things to do.

The road were certainly NARROW, and you could tell they fit the road between the trees.

The Burb wouldn't fit in the tree, but it was close!

This tree's impact when it fell over left a huge indentation in the ground. Chari read that one tree fell over, was heard in the town, and the locals throught there had been a TRAIN WRECK!

The last shot is of what the rain forest here looks like. It was thick and heavy!

We're still having fun! Today marks Day 24 on the road, roughly half way to the end...................

Self portraits say it all:
Temp when we rolled into Eureka was FIFTY - SEVEN! I was loving it, while Chari started digging for the long pants and jackets.............

Morale is still: EXCELLENT!

Dumb tip of the day: We couldn't find my car keys this morning, and tore the motel room apart. No luck. Figured they might be in our luggage. NOPE; found them in the ignition. Good thing the doors were locked and the locals were honest............
