Had a wonderful breakfast with Bill Cole and Celesta. Bill was nice enough to go with me to Walmart #1 looking for a tire, who sent us to Walmart #2, who had one that matched. It was a lot easier to find the 2nd store with Bill along. We enjoyed a cool drink while WM mounted the tire.

Most interesting sightings: A road runner in the painted desert.
Misc: Changing tires on an interstate is not fun.
Quote of the Day: “It’s a DRY Heat”. Yeah—right!

8/5 Phoenix

Surprise—it was only eighty in PHX this morning! We were on the road fairly early, heading west to LA. Wow, was that highway BUSY. Strange to me that trucks/trailers were supposed to drive with a 55MPH limit in the right lane, and cars were 75 in the left lane. So it ended up being almost bumper to bumper to California.

We grew a little bored with the desert scenery--just miles and miles of scrub bushes and sand—lots of miles!

Traffic seemed pretty intense as we entered the LA area. Either I’m getting older and struggling to drive in this traffic, or it is getting WORSE every time I come out. Or maybe both.

We arrived at Aunt Vi’s house mid-afternoon, and relaxed a while. Steve and Sharon (her kids) came over later and we all went out to dinner. Nice.

We are enjoying the 70 degree temperatures!

Fuel used so far: 85 (The suburbarn is making 16MPG)
Most interesting sightings: Hundreds and hundreds of wind turbine generators in the valley and hilltops just west of Palm Springs. It was the largest wind farm we’ve ever seen.
