It's a Dry Heat.................

Traveled from Albuquerque to Phoenix. Pretty drive. We toured the painted desert and petrified forest. We had a wonderful time looking at all the sights.

Had a surprise outside of Flagstaff, about 40 miles from Phoenix—we blew a TIRE! That was not fun. Lots of traffic, narrow shoulders, and my prayers for an AZ state trooper with bright flashing lights (unanswered) created some anxiety. But we got the tire swapped and on our way again. I didn’t even notice the heat! Following the tradition of Tally, who names all her cars, GPSs, and such, inspired us to name our left rear tire…………… Trying to keep this G rated, I won’t mention the name.

When we got to Sun City, it was 100 at midnight. But it’s a dry heat, right? Whoever won the chamber of commerce contest for “Valley of the Sun” did well. I’d like to read the losing entries—I bet some of them were good…………


8/4 Sat

Had a wonderful breakfast with Bill Cole and Celesta. Bill was nice enough to go with me to Walmart #1 looking for a tire, who sent us to Walmart #2, who had one that matched. It was a lot easier to find the 2nd store with Bill along. We enjoyed a cool drink while WM mounted the tire.

Misc: Changing tires on an interstate is not fun.
