Took Allen to the airport and we were on the road at 7AM!

Stopped in Salina for breakfast, and called our church lady (Diane) to get Pastor Mike Rose’s number in Salina. (Some folks with GM vehicles have OnStar—we have DianeStar—call Diane and she can hook us up with whatever we need!) Thank you Diane—you do a GREAT JOB!

Called Mike and he was at work, so we stopped by his church. You could tell he’s doing great there, and having fun—would Mike NEVER have fun?—I don’t think so.

We chatted, and he gave us the grand tour of the very old church. One of the key things they do as a service project EVERY Sunday night—Kansas Weslyan College cafeterias don’t serve Sun evening, so the church has a “buck night” meal—kids come and eat home cooked meals for a dollar. Mike mentioned that some don’t have any money, but they eat anyway. They average 100 people per Sunday night! Impressive…………………

Does it count as our time in church this week—we were with Mike in his church for over an hour?????????????????????

Drive to Colorado was pretty. Lot of rain in western KS, so it was NOT a typical August scene as everything was still mostly green.

We stopped at a natural history museum in Hays. Lots of cool stuff from the old days, like SEVENTY MILLION YEARS AGO, back when KS was the bottom of an ocean…………..

** Wakeeny, KS has an F-14 fighter on static display. It’s a small town—don’t know how they snagged it!
** While fueling near Blake’s house, the girl next to us fueling was on her way to /from work at HOOTERS, judging from her ‘uniform’. I think she was on a scholarship there……………..
Misc: Bugs killed by impact with windshield -- about 20 billion!
